Range Rules

Safety First, Last, Safety Always.

    1. Remember, ALL GUNS ARE LOADED ALL THE TIME!!!, This means even if you think it’s not loaded treat it as if it is.
    2. Do not point the muzzle at anything that you are not willing to destroy.
    3. Keep your finger off the trigger until the sights are on the target.
    4. Be sure of your target, and what’s behind it.
    5. Eye protection is required whenever you are on the Range. Hearing protection whenever you or anyone is firing on the Range.
    6. NO GUEST’S ALLOWED, NO ONE CAN BE ON PROPERTY THAT IS NOT A MEMBER. NO EXCEPTION’S!!!!!!
    7. No alcoholic drinks before or at the range.
    8. Do not move targets and or stage props in shooting pits.
    9. DO NOT SHOOT AT CLUB PROPERTY— props, walls, barrels, etc.
    10. Do not shoot at Steel targets closer than 10 yards.
    11. Do not shoot at Steel targets with rifle ammo or shotgun slugs.
    12. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR TRASH AT THE RANGE. If you bring it in, take it home with you.
    13. Do not shoot at anything that will cause a round to travel over the pit wall (BERM).
    14. Daylight only shooting. Normal hours are 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. or dark.
    15. This is a COLD RANGE on match days. This means all firearms must be unloaded in a separate gun bag, or gun rug that zips up. Guns cannot be handled except at the SAFETY TABLE. No ammo at Safety table allowed.
    16. If a non-shooting event is going on at the Groton Rod & Gun Club next door, then the Range is CLOSED. You cannot shoot at the Pistol Club at that time.
    17. You must have your MEMBERSHIP CARD with you at the range. You must show it, along with your NYS Pistol Permit, if asked to produce it by a Club Officer.
    18. If you are NOT an active member of one of the two shooting sports we do at the Cortland Pistol Club (you must produce a current USPSA or IDPA card), you will have to attend a Safety and Rules Orientation given by a Cortland Club Safety Officer.
  • ANYONE in violation of these rules will have their Membership REVOLKED.
